Just to key in "Jehovah's Witnesses" to GOOGLE will provide the researcher with thousands of pros and cons concerning the Jehovah's Witnesses. My particular beef is that I honestly believe the Governing Body of the Watchtower, Bible and Tract Society is deliberately deceiving the 7 Million active Witnesses and a further 7 million associated Witnesses into believing that there will be an Armageddon 'very soon'. They also publish such words as 'near at hand', 'imminent'; 'within our lifetime'; and so on. These words have very specific meanings according to the accepted 'Oxford English Dictionary'. SOON means IN THE VERY NEAR FUTURE.
Since The Watchtower, Bible and Tract Society have been publishing on behalf of the original Bible Students (re-named Jehovah's Witnesses in 1931) that Armageddon will be 'soon' during the past 120 years and is still publishing that 'It will be soon', then by no means can the Governing Body claim that 120 years is a very near future. Since the Governing Body's claims are aimed at present populations, then 'in the very near future' must apply to people now living. Ask any Jehovah's Witness when Armageddon will occur and their response will be 'the signs show it will be very soon' which is a repeat of what the Governing Body is publishing. Unfortunately individual Witnesses cannot ask their elders nor the Governing Body to give their understanding of the word 'soon' because such questioning of the leaders is frowned upon. The questioners are likely to be cast aside and even disfellowshipped if they continue to ask such uncomfortable questions.
I invite Jehovah's Witnesses and others to give their views.
